What is BEAM 21?

BEAM 21 is developing and implementing capacity building training programms for European municipalities on municipal climate protection and intelligent energy meassures (self-directed, supervised online-learning and on-site training). Facing the relevance of energy for the economy of the European States and considering global crises, the question of energy conserving and intelligent energy management is one of the decisive questions to achieve European climate protection targets. Municipalities are one of the most important players to reduce GHG emissions. BEAM 21 steps in at this point supporting local capacity building.

Final Conference BEAM 21 " Competences for Local Climate Protection and Intelligent Energy Management", 27th June 2012 in Varna (Bulgaria)

- June 8, 2012 - The Heinrich-Böll-Foundation Brandenburg (Germany) and The Public Center for Environment and Sustainable Development (Bulgaria) invite you to participate in the final conference of the project BEAM 21. The conference will be attended by representatives from municipalities of nine countries including Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, France and Czech Republic. Final report

- The BEAM 21 project has been successfully finished on 31st August 2012. A number of 423 participants in 59 cities from 9 countries have been trained on municipal climate protection and intelligent energy management. Here you find the result report of the project. more»

Assessment report on additional trainers

- Part of the project has been to train additional trainers.  In total 40 additional trainers have been trained (four more than intended) and are able to deliver capacity building training sessions using the methodology and contents developed in the project. It is three trainers each in Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia and Romania and six trainers each from Germany and Poland and ten trainers from France. more»

Assessment report on training implementation and results on level of municipalities

- Within the BEAM21 project a number of 423 partcipants from 59 cities have been trained in all partner countries. Where it was useful and on demand of the course groups a meeting between the course groups was organized. For the decision maker’s course participants from a large variety of parties could be mobilized, i.e. discussions in the course functioned as a micro copy of the discussions and arguments in the municipal councils. more»

Final Conferences

- In 2012 the final conferences of BEAM 21 took place in all countries. A total number of 484 participants could be reached. National organisations of municipalities, course participants and further municipalities have been invited. Some members of the advisory board took part as far as possible.
