Dobrich - winner of Energy MODEL Award 2009

- The Bulgarian city of Dobrich won the first prize of Energy MODEL Award competition 2009. They took concrete steps to improve the quality of life of our citizens through energy savings in particular by: appointing municipal energy managers, organizing an energy unit within municipal administration, developing a local energy action plan and energy information systems (data base with energy consumption in all municipal buildings), looking for financing for concrete investments, improving the communication of energy issues towards citizens. more»

Stockholm – European Green Capital 2010

- Stockholm is the first city to be designated European Green Capital 2010 by the EU Commission. The Stockholm city council has the ambitious target of becoming wholly independent of fossil fuels by 2050. more»

Sydney - first carbon neutral city in Australia

- In 2008, the City of Sydney became the first carbon neutral local government in Australia through energy efficiency, renewable energy and offsets. In 2009 Sydney entered its second year of carbon neutrality.
